Assistant Professor of English/Composition, Communication or Journalism
Job Description
Allen University’ English Department is seeking applicants to fill a full-time position at the rank of assistant professor beginning August 2025. This is a tenure track position. Candidates with a
background in professional writing, Journalism and/or Communications are particularly encouraged to apply. In addition, candidates with a background in Composition and Rhetoric are
encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include teaching first-year composition and upper division courses relevant to the applicant’s field of research. The position also requires advising students
and service on university committees.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should have completed a PhD in related fields as previously noted by August 1, 2025. The normal teaching load can be a 5/4 load, although upper-level
courses have a very small student enrollment. Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with the
experience of the applicant.
