Marquette University Press is a scholarly book publishing house specializing in the humanities with emphasis on Philosophy and Theology. This is an opportunity for a reliable individual, good at maintaining accurate records and organizing workflows, to learn the book publishing business. The position centers around attention to detail, bookkeeping, traffic control, author and vendor relations, and the skill to handle numerous tasks at one time in a dynamic and challenging environment. If you have the ability to master intricate tasks and a strong interest in learning about the business side of publishing, you could be a perfect fit for this demanding and rewarding role. This part-time position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week (with full-time potential pending).

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Oversee the production and printing of books, including eBook work, print-on-demand work, and reprints. Receive and distribute books and track sales. Create and manage metadata.
2. Complete all financial reporting and budget responsibilities, including but not limited to accounts receivable and payables, reconciling all financial transactions, monthly and yearly financial reporting, and keeping and maintaining inventory data.
3. Manage relationships with authors, agents, buyers, vendors, and reviewers. Carry out permissions research and handle royalty work.
4. Work with fulfillment house on book orders, problem solving, and record keeping.

- Develop and maintain website
- Create and manage mailing lists
- Handle advertising and promotions
- Coordinate and implement book displays for conferences
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Associate’s or vocational/ technical school degree preferably in accounting or related field
A minimum of 3 years of related experience
A minimum of 3 years of related experience
Knowledge of MAC operating system, Microsoft office, especially Excel, and Adobe Pro
Basic understanding of social media
Attention to detail
Ability to prioritize, organize, and work independently
Strong analytic capability and math aptitude
Ability to problem solve under pressure
Ability to build effective relationships
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Supervisory experience
Familiarity with QuickBooks, Adobe products such as InDesign and Photoshop
